((I'm cheating with this one. It's not a fic of any kind, and I didn't write it. Basically, it's just a summary of some of Sylvie's D&D endeavors, which included her (Celebrindal), Ryan's (Lokiagar), and my (Tavaril) characters from Alex's Temple of Elemental Evil campaign. At any rate, she e-mailed this to my school address several years ago, and now it needs a new home, so I am putting it here.
PS-- Sylvie, if you wander to this little corner of the web and would rather I didn't post this here, please lemme know.))
Hey babe,
Sorry it took so long but I wanted to put together an email and not post it on LJ because I didn't want people in my campaign knowing of my plans.
Anywho, first with Julian's campaign, both Tavaril and Lokiagar are in my backstory. I am Annaril the half-elf bard, daughter of Celebrindal (who basically raped some human so she could have an heir). Cele and Tavaril were friends after the whole adventuring thing and lived close by. Loki on the other hand went off to seek his fortune and we never heard of him again, although Cele always looked for news of him. She eventually died at the hands of some drow and left good old Silverfrond (the sister longsword of Lokiagar's Goldleaf) to Annaril. Annaril went to live with her father for a few years but got kicked out because she was a brat and didn't want to work, only sing. So she went to live with Tavaril for a little while before going to get her bard training.
Much later, during the adventure where we save the world (basically) I happened to run into Lokiagar. He had been off searching for a way to reunite the elf races and help the gray elves (he's a gray elf himself) who had been enslaved by this artifact thing that had shifted many of them into the ethereal realm. Since we were looking for this same artifact for a different reason (the Emperor had told us to) we went into the Land of the Wondrous Wall to get it back and to save them. Loki also told me that our swords were shards of the ancient sword of Corellon Larethian and that I must search for the crystals that belonged in them. When all the crystals and the rod that held the shards together was found the sword would be complete and it could be used to help unite the elf races.
My dear uncle also helped us out with a couple of things, like some high level spells (yay!) and he gave us his apprentice, Solon (also a gray elf), to tag along and help us, and to protect me.
That's basically where we are with that.
In my campaign, I combined most of my favorite fantasy stories into one. See if you can get the references:
The first thing you have to know is that in my universe the Material Plane is divided into many worlds which are parallel to each other, but there are portals (only usable by those in service of the gods) between certain ones that form the worlds into a kind of ring. The evil demi-god, Vawan, locked inside the world of Nydendad, is once again trying to gain dominion over the universe. He somehow found a way to "cut" the portals so his minions can use them (yeah, he basically made a sort of "subtle knife/One Ring hybrid"). There was a prophecy long ago that the only one who would be able to kill Vawan would be a young arcane spellcaster, who would arise when the time was right to kill him.
So once it became clear to the wise ones that Vawan was once again making a push to overtake the universe, a sort of "school" was set up in one of the worlds, and every effort was made to find every young person in the worlds who had extraordinary potential for spellcasting. Richer and more educated families very often gave their permission for their young to go to this school (even though they were told almost nothing about it) but many of the poor did not and their children were simply taken to this school, named the School of Denre. Any who obviously were not the "Last Savior" had their memories erased and were sent back to their homes.
The school lies in the final world before Cira, which is the land of the celestials (a kind of purgatory for good souls), called Faum. It is a barren land, the guardian world of Cira, and only inhabited by soul suckers who will attack any adult that enters the world. They are, however, under the control of the teachers of the school of Denre and do as they wish.
Now, the important part. Both Lokiagar and Tavaril are teachers within this school. They are both basically the most important teachers because they teach what is the equivalent of Defense Against the Dark Arts (I haven't given the subject a cool name yet, the party is a long way from here). And I have bumped them up many levels since they are both now 19th level (Loki in Julian's game is 8th level). They are also "recruiters" for the school, which means they go and get potential students by whatever means possible.
The party actually already ran into Loki in Cittagazzee (the capital of the world where they were all from, Gandra) when he staged a mock robbery in a store so that he could take the innkeeper's son. They actually did follow him into an alley, but he teleported away.
So both of the characters don't fully appear until the party reaches like 18th/19th level, but it will be cool nevertheless. The adventurers will have to return to the school to get the "Last Savior" before they go try to get Vawan and when they do they will realize that the soul suckers have turned away from the good people and have destroyed the school under the command of some evil spellcaster (haven't gotten all that worked out). Both Loki and Tavaril will survive (barely) and if I decide that either one or both of them feel up to it, they will join the party for the final battle within the hell that is Nydendad so that Vawan can be destroyed.
THE END
If you got through all that I commend you. Hope you enjoyed seeing how I got to use random things to make some kind of story.
Love ya and miss ya,
Sylvie
